Remote Health and Safety Officer

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Remote Health and Safety Officer to champion safety standards across their construction projects, predominantly in the Durban area. This role requires a proactive individual who can remotely monitor, advise, and implement safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will play a critical role in fostering a strong safety culture, conducting virtual inspections, risk assessments, and providing essential training and support to on-site teams.

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety management systems for construction sites across Kwa Zulu-Natal.
• Conduct remote risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits, identifying potential risks and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety legislation and best practices to project managers and site personnel.
• Facilitate and deliver virtual health and safety training sessions for employees and subcontractors.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and implementing preventative measures.
• Maintain all health and safety records, documentation, and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Health and Safety role, preferably within the construction industry.
• Possession of relevant professional certifications such as NOSA, SAMTRAC, or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of South African occupational health and safety legislation and standards.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders remotely.
• Proficiency in using digital tools for reporting, risk assessment, and virtual training delivery.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and maintain high standards of work in a remote setting.
