Senior Formulation Scientist

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Formulation Scientist to drive innovation in product development within their pharmaceutical division based in Welkom. This role is central to the design, development, and optimization of stable, effective, and manufacturable drug formulations. You will leverage your deep expertise in pharmaceutical sciences to translate pre-formulation concepts into viable commercial products. This position requires a blend of scientific rigor, creativity, and practical experience in a laboratory setting, contributing to a pipeline of advanced pharmaceutical solutions and collaborating with a team committed to excellence and patient well-being.

• Lead the development of new oral solid dosage forms (tablets, capsules) and potentially other dosage forms.
• Design and execute experiments for formulation development, including pre-formulation studies, excipient compatibility, and stability testing.
• Investigate and resolve formulation-related challenges to ensure product performance, manufacturability, and shelf-life.
• Utilize advanced analytical techniques to characterize drug substances and finished products.
• Collaborate closely with process development, analytical development, and regulatory affairs teams.
• Prepare comprehensive documentation for development reports, technical transfer packages, and regulatory submissions.

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• In-depth knowledge of formulation principles, excipient functionality, and drug delivery systems.
• Experience with various dosage forms, with a strong emphasis on solid oral dosage forms.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques for formulation development and characterization.
