Location:

Working Arrangement:
Predominantly office‑based. Limited home working. Candidates based in Westlakes will be considered if willing to travel.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project Quality Control Engineer to join a highly regulated engineering environment, supporting major projects and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, compliant equipment to customers. You will act as an independent quality specialist, providing expert advice to engineering and project teams, defining inspection requirements, and carrying out inspections across the supply chain. Your work will directly influence the successful delivery of complex, safety‑critical projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review enquiry, tender and contract documentation to interpret customer quality requirements.
  • Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders to clarify expectations around quality control and inspection.
  • Support engineering teams to ensure design deliverables fully define quality and inspection needs.
  • Review and approve supplier quality arrangements, including QCPs, weld procedures, NDT procedures and manufacturing documentation.
  • Attend supply chain kick‑off meetings to ensure clarity of requirements.
  • Produce and assign inspection activities for Quality Inspectors.
  • Carry out inspection assignments, including equipment inspections, witnessing NDT and functional testing.
  • Complete risk assessments prior to inspection activities.
  • Review and endorse supporting documentation such as NDT reports, weld schedules and EC&I test documentation.
  • Provide timely reporting of inspection findings.
  • Conduct ongoing and final review of Life Time Records (data dossiers).
  • Release procured items upon satisfactory inspection.
  • Advise on quality control and inspection risks, issues and best practice.
  • Participate in project meetings, contract reviews and handover sessions.
  • Support supplier assessments and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Assist in resolving product quality non‑conformances.
  • Identify and elevate areas of concern where necessary.
  • Prepare project quality documentation, including project‑specific procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with company BMS policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
Knowledge & Experience Required
  • Strong working knowledge of the nuclear and/or chemical/petrochemical process industries.
  • Understanding of relevant regulations, legislation and customer quality requirements.
  • Solid knowledge of ISO 9001 and manufacturing techniques.
  • Completed a manufacturing apprenticeship.
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly and testing of turnkey specialist assemblies.
  • Proven experience with Quality Control Plans and Inspection & Test Plans.
  • Background in a highly regulated industry, ideally nuclear.
  • Experience in Fabrication and welding techniques.
  • Experience in NDT techniques.
  • Experience in Mechanical inspection.
  • Experience in Electrical assembly and testing.
  • Experience in Reviewing material certification.

Qualifications
  • Ideally HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Weld inspection qualification (CSWIP 3.1 or PCN Level 2 WI).
  • Auditor training desirable.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK.
