Senior Building Surveyor at SRVO
Location – Remote working – West Midlands / East Midlands / East Anglia
Working Hours – 37.5 hours per week, 0900 – 1730 Monday - Friday

We work as part of a team, under the direction of the Building Surveying Directors, delivering core services primarily within the residential and commercial markets. This role requires a proactive and driven professional who is eager to apply expertise across a variety of surveying disciplines while developing strong client relationships.
Job DescriptionJoin a rapidly growing property company at the forefront of the real estate market. The Senior Building Surveyor will deliver core services in both residential and commercial sectors.
Key Responsibilities- Providing advice on building defects across the full range of property types and ages.
- Preparing Preventative Planned Maintenance Reports and budget costs, and advising clients on planned maintenance matters.
- Reviewing preconstruction information packs and overseeing the RAMS review process for project works and service installations.
- Acting as Project Manager / Contract Administrator on projects ranging in value from £50k to £3m+, leading teams or working independently as required.
- When appropriate, acting in the capacity of Principal Designer, including preparing PCI packs, reviewing CPPs, and preparing H&S files.
- Undertaking Building Reinstatement Cost Assessments.
- Completing pre-acquisition surveys on commercial, retail, industrial and residential premises.
- Conducting Building Height Surveys and Structural Appraisals for Building Safety Reports relating to the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Preparing Schedules of Dilapidations, negotiating claims and providing advice to Landlords and Tenants.
- Providing Party Wall advice to Building and Adjoining Owners (desirable but not essential).
- Monitoring development or project works on behalf of Landlords, funders or other parties.
- Assisting in company initiatives, business development, service improvement, CPD, training, and mentoring of junior staff and APC Candidates.
Skills and Qualifications
- Detailed knowledge of construction, building pathology and relevant legislation including fire legislation.
- Ability to maintain and build relationships with client contacts.
- Experience of managing a team or aspiration to step up into a management role.
- Experience in the residential property management industry is an advantage, though not essential.
- Strong workload management and ability to utilise team resources effectively.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Professional communication skills across phone, video, email and face‑to‑face engagements.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to self‑manage time and meet reporting deadlines.
- Self‑starter capable of working remotely and independently, managing workload and pipeline.
- IT literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including spelling and grammar.
- Strong team working skills.
- Professional and courteous customer‑facing manner and commitment to excellent service.
- Valid clean UK Driving Licence.
- AutoCAD ability desirable.
