The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for a Real Estate and Legal Estate Analyst to join our rapidly growing team.

The Real Estate and Legal Analyst has a key role in shaping how the municipality manages, acquires, disposes of, and leases its real property assets. As New Tecumseth continues to experience significant and sustained growth, the magnitude of development and infrastructure needs in the coming years is imminent. This role provides an opportunity to build and maintain the strategy, tools, processes, and records that support effective real estate transactions and portfolio oversight, while coordinating legal documentation, external counsel, and service providers.

Working closely with internal departments, senior leadership, Council, and external agencies, the incumbent delivers research, analysis, and recommendations that advance the Town’s strategic real estate and corporate objectives. In doing so, the role contributes to the responsible stewardship of public assets, balancing growth and innovation through effective collaboration.

What we promise:
  • Leading the creation of, monitoring, updating and implementing the Township’s Land Acquisition, Disposal Plan and real-estate strategy, including managing information and negotiations that are often commercially sensitive, confidential or subject to Council direction.
  • Monitor the real estate market for opportunities that align with the Town’s interests.
  • Maintain an automated real estate inventory/leases of Town properties in co-ordination with existing property databases in other departments.
  • Answer inquiries from Council, other staff and the general public concerning the transactions of Town-owned real estate and commence the transaction process, where appropriate.
  • Coordinating the process for real estate matters including acquisitions, disposals, easements, lease agreements, license agreements, license agreements expropriations, etc.
  • Preparing, reviewing and coordinating the registration of various legal documents including heritage by-law designations and Township orders.
  • Writing and presenting reports to senior management and Council in relation to a range of real estate/real property matters, as needed.
  • Collaborates with Economic Development to support business attraction and investment by providing real estate expertise, site identification and analysis, and market insight.
Legal Management, Including:
  • Develop and maintain a legal use policy for administrative staff.
  • Coordination of Outside Legal Services, including development of a preferred vendor list.
  • Management of retainers for external counsel including cost tracking, budgeting, invoice approval and processing, etc.
  • Coordination of Legal Agreements.
  • Drafting, reviewing and revising legal agreements and/or documents. Create and maintain legal agreement templates.
  • Managing and facilitating the approval and execution process for legal agreements including compliance with related policies.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining a technology-supported system for the cataloguing, indexing, tracking, and storage of all legal files, templates, instruments and agreements.
  • Facilitate and maintain a central record repository for legal opinions.
How you contribute to our organization:
  • Minimum required:
    Post secondary diploma in Legal Administration/Law Clerk/Legal Assistant or Real Estate related program.
  • Preferred:
    Associate membership with the institute of Law Clerks of Ontario would be considered an asset.
  • 5 or more years' law clerk/legal administration experience in real estate or similar discipline.
