The Development Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in London with projects aross the UK, with flexibility for some work from home. The role involves leading and coordinating development projects from early concept through delivery, working closely with landowners, investors, operators, and advisors to define briefs, unlock constraints, and shape viable development strategies. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing project timelines and budgets, overseeing feasibility studies and due diligence, preparing and reviewing development appraisals, and leading planning and design processes.
The Development Manager will facilitate stakeholder engagement, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure that projects reflect Grow Places' values of long-term place growth, authenticity, and community benefit. The role also supports asset management activities, monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for adaptation and improvement across the portfolio.
- Experience in property development and project management, including coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing development processes from concept to completion.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to prepare and interpret development appraisals, feasibility studies, and investment cases.
- Knowledge of UK planning, design, and construction processes, preferably with experience in urban regeneration or complex mixed-use projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with landowners, investors, operators, communities, and advisors.
- Strategic and creative problem-solving abilities, with a track record of shaping briefs, resolving constraints, and delivering long-term place value.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment as part of a start-up culture, managing priorities independently while collaborating closely with colleagues in London and on-site.
- Relevant academic or professional background in real estate, planning, architecture, urban design, finance, or a related discipline.
- Commitment to inclusive, sustainable development and an interest in the social, cultural, and economic impact of places.
