We’re a housing provider in Macclesfield with over 5,000 properties across East Cheshire and the surrounding areas. We’re ambitious with plans to build more homes, regenerate local areas and invest in our properties. We provide housing to those in housing need and aim to be a great landlord for our customers.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Section 20 Officer to join our team and play a key role in managing and administering the Section 20 consultation process for leasehold major works and qualifying long-term agreements.
The key responsibilities of the role will be to oversee the Section 20 consultation process, ensuring all statutory requirements and legal timescales are met. You will prepare and issue consultation notices, updates and correspondence to leaseholders, providing clear and accurate information about proposed works, costs, timescales and potential charges.
You will act as an important point of contact for leaseholders throughout the consultation and works process, responding to enquiries and concerns and coordinating observations and nominations. You will work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to support the effective delivery of major works programmes, ensuring accurate records are maintained and that consultations, approvals and decisions are properly documented.
The role will also involve monitoring costs and supporting the recovery of eligible charges from leaseholders, as well as supporting the management of sinking funds and ensuring contributions and major works expenditure are accurately recorded and communicated. You will also identify and manage risks associated with Section 20 requirements, helping to prevent delays, disputes and potential legal challenges.
This is an important role in ensuring the Trust meets its statutory obligations when carrying out leasehold major works and qualifying long-term agreements, whilst providing a transparent, accountable and customer-focused service.
We can offer you:
* 29 days holiday per year plus birthday leave and Bank Holidays
* A great pension scheme that’s tailored to suit your needs
* A focus on your health and wellbeing, including access to our Health Cash Plan offering a variety of benefits and discounts
* Training and development opportunities – let us help you reach your career goals
* A modern office with a friendly working environment
* Agile working, with the opportunity to work from home alongside regular attendance at our Head Office
Occasional site visits across our housing portfolio, mainly covering Macclesfield, Congleton, Knutsford and Wilmslow, with some properties in High Peak, Poynton and Nantwich.
To succeed in this role, you will have strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail, with experience of maintaining accurate records, monitoring deadlines and ensuring compliance with procedures. You will be customer-focused and confident communicating with leaseholders and internal stakeholders.
You will ideally have knowledge and understanding of leasehold legislation, alongside excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills. You will also be self-motivated, flexible and able to adapt to changing workloads and organisational demands.
