The objectives of the Research AssociateTo support the work of the Consultant, Principal Consultant, and Research Manager in providing consulting services, especially in research-to-messaging projects.
Responsibilities- Lead research project management and planning so that C4C’s research best practices and quality standards are fulfilled, including managing research vendors and partners
- Contribute to the development of research design, instruments, analysis plan, and publications
- Write programming code to clean, process, and analyze data according to C4C’s best coding practices
- Contribute to the development of internal research resources
- Manage the paperwork and documentation of the project
- Contribute to the development and management of our open data platform, Lab Narasi
- Collaborate with other teams within C4C, especially the messaging team
Since communication in C4C always combines research with creativity, we expect the same qualities from our Research Associate. We know that it’s rare to expect someone equally strong in both, but to thrive in C4C, everyone must possess strong analytical and writing skills.
The expected qualities and requirements are:
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply if you possess sufficient experience in research projects
, particularly in quantitative research, preferably with a background in economics or any other quantitative major, and have some proficiency in any data programming languages:
Stata, R, or Python. - Demonstrates exceptional project management skills
, including planning, executing, and monitoring multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring timely delivery and meeting organizational objectives. Skilled in stakeholder coordination, resource allocation, and risk management, with a track record of delivering high‑impact results in dynamic and fast‑paced environments. - Highly skilled in written communication in both English and Indonesian
- Read in advanced English (for example, articles in scientific journals, or The Economist, The New Yorker, The New York Review of Books, The Atlantic) and comprehend the content accurately
- Write well in both English and Indonesian: synthesize theses or main points, draft outlines, construct paragraphs, and write strong sentences (C4C has specific styles for reports, presentations, proposals, and even emails).
- Highly skilled in analytical thinking
, in other words, applying the fundamentals of the scientific method in day‑to‑day situations: ask good questions, observe, identify patterns, generate hypotheses and their counterfactuals, use methods to test the hypotheses, and draw interim conclusions. - Sufficient numeric reasoning skills to decipher the meaning behind numbers
, weigh probability, and make decisions or predictions; those who understand statistics for social science will have an advantage. - Self‑disciplined
