Cultural heritage is more than history—it’s identity. As a Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist
, you’ll play a pivotal role in safeguarding archaeological resources while guiding clients through complex regulatory landscapes. Your leadership ensures projects honor the past while enabling sustainable progress. This is a full‑time, salary‑based position based at the Arizona office with opportunities for remote work.
- Lead high‑profile archaeological projects across Arizona and the Southwest.
- Influence cultural resource strategies for private and government clients.
- Drive compliance with NHPA Section 106, NEPA, and state regulations.
- Mentor and inspire junior archaeologists, shaping the next generation of experts.
- Represent ERM as a trusted advisor to agencies and stakeholders.
- Master’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.
- 5+ years in cultural resource management (inventory, survey, testing, data recovery).
- 2+ years supervising projects and staff, with proven technical report‑writing expertise.
- Deep knowledge of Southwest/Great Basin prehistory and preservation laws.
- Ability to qualify as Project Director under Arizona State Museum standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Physical capability for fieldwork (long hikes, lifting up to 50 lbs., shovel testing).
- Driver’s License
Required:
valid license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle due to frequent travel to client locations. - This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
- Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA).
- Permitting qualifications for AZ, NV, and UT.
- Experience with GPS, total station, and mapping equipment.
- Laboratory materials processing experience.
- Prior agency interaction and proposal development skills.
- Plan and execute literature reviews, field inventories, and NRHP evaluations.
- Prepare cultural resource documentation for compliance‑driven projects.
- Supervise field teams and ensure quality deliverables.
- Engage with SHPOs and maintain cultural resource databases.
- Collaborate across ERM practice areas for integrated solutions.
- Communicate with clients and agencies; represent ERM at key meetings.
- Support business growth through technical consulting and proposal development.
