Research Scientist
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate (Postdoctoral Researcher) to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team at the University of Kent. The successful candidate will contribute to a BBSRC-funded project aimed at illuminating the molecular mechanisms of bacterial lipid transport, processes that represent promising targets for novel antimicrobials. The project integrates biochemical, biophysical, microbiological, and multi-omics approaches to investigate the structure, function, and physiological roles of bacterial lipid transport proteins.
As Research Associate in Bacterial Transport Mechanisms, you canexpect to be involved in:
- Contributing to the design and execution of research projects, ensuring alignment with institutional and departmental goals.
- Conducting individual and collaborative research, gathering and analysing data to derive meaningful conclusions.
- Organising, storing and writing up results and report regularly to the research group, partners and other stakeholders.
What will you bring to the role?
- Currently hold, or be in the final stages of obtaining, a relevant postgraduate degree (PhD or equivalent) in a related field of study (e.g., Biology/Biochemistry)
- Proven experience in conducting research projects, including data collection and analysis
- Specialist expertise in protein expression and purification, and biochemical protein characterisation
- Experience in molecular biology techniques.
