- correct errors and inconsistencies
- standardize terminology and formats
- remove duplicate and out-of-scope cases
- collaborate on the design and application of a coding framework to analyze patterns and outliers across time and space
- independent and collaborative historical analysis
- participation in bi-weekly meetings with faculty project leader
- optional presentation of their work and findings in a research poster at the Spring 2026 Undergraduate Showcase
- History major who has successfully completed HIST 240
- Experience conducting research in digital or physical archival collections
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications- Experience using the digital historical newspaper databases America's Historical Newspapers and Chronicling America
- Successfully completed History 220:
North Dakota History - Successfully completed History 332:
Early American Women's History - If not a History major with the research training and experience listed above, applicants must demonstrate developing expertise in historical research.
