DOPS Undergraduate Research Assistant NDE – Federal Study - Remote optional​/Stud

Overview

Employer Industry: Academic Research (Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences). Part-time position (10-20 hours/week) with flexible scheduling in cutting-edge research on near-death experiences. Opportunities for hands-on experience in qualitative coding and survey creation in a supportive environment under experienced faculty, with potential remote work options.

• Participate in training to become familiar with research on near-death experiences and current research protocols.
• Assist in qualitative coding of narratives related to the research.
• Help create online surveys to gather data.
• Complete the UVA Institutional Review Board CITI training in research ethics.
• Provide general support to the research team as needed.

• Must be a current Federal Work Study eligible student at the University of Virginia.
• Academic experience in the sciences or related fields, with knowledge of research methods preferred.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Rigorous attention to detail.

• Experience with data software such as SPSS or SAS, and survey platforms like Qualtrics.
• Coursework in psychology, sociology, neuroscience, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe software.
