About the role

The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct collaborative and independent research on economic inequality, income and wealth concentration, statistics and economic history. Reporting to Prof. Facundo Alvaredo, you will have a specific focus on estimating, analysing, and interpreting historical series of top income shares, top wealth shares and inheritance statistics in developing and developed countries.

This is a fixed term role which will end by the end of February 2027.

About you

You will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in Economics or a related discipline, together with relevant experience. You will have experience of contributing to publications and presentations and a familiarity with the past and recent literature in the field of inequality, in particular income and wealth concentration. Excellent communications skills are essential, along with the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation.

You will also have experience in working with large micro databases and grouped data.

Experience of independently managing a discrete area of a research project, working in economic archives and publishing in peer-reviewed journals would also be an advantage.
