PhD Candidate in Biodiversity Change Radboud University is offering a PhD position focused on understanding and predicting global biodiversity changes and identifying conservation solutions. The position includes conducting research on biodiversity models and their response to human activities and environmental changes, teaching responsibilities, and collaborating with the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency for policy support.

Minimum Qualifications MSc degree in Biology, Ecology, or a related field within the natural sciences.
Familiarity with statistical and/or process-explicit ecological modelling.
Experience with programming languages such as R, Python, or Matlab.
Strong data processing and programming skills.
Collaborative and solution-oriented research approach.
Proficient in written and spoken English.
Job Description Research Focus: Develop and apply global models to understand biodiversity responses to human activities, using global datasets on biodiversity and environmental drivers.
Scenario Simulations: Explore impacts of future environmental changes and conservation measures on species and ecological communities.
Collaboration:
Work with researchers from the PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency for policy and decision support.
Teaching Responsibilities: Dedicate 10% of working time to teaching BSc and MSc students, including guiding students and developing course materials.

Terms:
Temporary 1.0 FTE contract for 1.5 years, extendable to a total of 4 years based on performance evaluation.
Salary: Starting salary of €2,770 gross per month, increasing to €3,539 in the fourth year, with additional holiday and end-of-year bonuses.
