Research Scientist, Data Scientist

As Lead Clinical Researcher
, you will shape and deliver Limbic’s research strategy. You will work closely with senior leadership to design, execute and communicate rigorous evidence on the impact, safety and usability of our AI-enabled products. Your work will span everything from rapid user-experience studies to large-scale clinical trials, and you will own the scientific process end to end — from study design to publication in high-impact journals.
A key part of this role is to strategically investigate how our products work and the outcomes they deliver, generating insights that both reinforce our evidence base and guide product development. You will collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, growth, and clinical teams, and you will take on managerial responsibilities.
This role is ideal for a scientifically rigorous researcher who is excited by AI, motivated by real-world clinical impact, and energised by working in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities- Ownership of the company’s evidence generation strategy and execution
- Design, conduct, and oversee a range of studies — from UX research through to large-scale clinical trials
- Publish impactful research in prestigious peer-reviewed journals and conferences
- Collaborate with our Growth team to translate scientific findings into compelling, customer-facing evidence
- Work closely with Product to design and run robust evaluations of usability, safety and effectiveness for our products and their AI components
- Acquire and maintain ethics approvals for all research activities, owning the regulatory compliance process end-to-end (e.g., NHS REC, HRA submissions)
- Managing research coordinators and analysts
- Forge and manage external research collaborations
- PhD in psychology, medicine, neuroscience, or a similar field
- Strong track record of publishing in reputable, peer-reviewed publication outlets
- Laser-focus on business goals and how research can support these
- Strong statistical knowledge and data analysis skills
- Fluency in Python (or other coding language) for data processing and analysis
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills, including giving company presentations
- Experience working in a start-up or other fast-paced company
- Experience with running clinical trials
- Experience navigating research ethics processes (e.g., NHS REC, HRA, or equivalent institutional review boards)
- Experience with running user interviews and qualitative research studies
- Capable of building and hosting metrics dashboards (e.g., Streamlit, Dash)
- Knowledge of talking therapies (e.g., cognitive-behavioural therapy)
- Managerial experience
