Research Intern - Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing; PhD

Overview

Thomson Reuters Labs in London is seeking a motivated research intern to lead an independent research project at the intersection of cutting‑edge AI and real‑world applications.

The internship is typically six months, with a flexible start date aligned with your schedule.

• Drive Research: Lead experiments to answer cutting‑edge research questions, design evaluations, and analyze results.
• Innovate: Explore novel approaches and emerging technologies that advance Thomson Reuters product portfolio.
• Collaborate & Disseminate: Work with experienced research scientists and share findings through internal presentations and external publications.

• Academic Foundation: Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field with demonstrated research experience (at least one publication required).
• Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of NLP and ML methodologies, including experience with large language models; proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate ML experiments.

  Proficiency in Python and relevant frameworks (PyTorch, Tensor Flow, Hugging Face, etc.).

  Experience working with unstructured datasets and applying data‑preprocessing techniques; data‑driven approach to problem‑solving and decision‑making.

  Familiarity with version control systems (Git Hub, Git Lab) and exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for teamwork.
• Additional: Availability to commit to a full internship and willingness to work in London.
