Role Description

This internship role for a Customer Research Associate is a hybrid position based in Toronto, ON, with a mix of on-site work at the University of Toronto and some work-from-home flexibility. The Customer Research Associate will support user and customer research activities, including helping design surveys, interview guides, and feedback forms to understand the needs and experiences of Deaf and hard-of-hearing users and other stakeholders.

Day-to-day tasks include recruiting and coordinating research participants, taking notes during interviews and usability sessions, and organizing research data for analysis. The role involves synthesizing findings into clear summaries, reports, and presentations that inform product and design decisions. The intern will collaborate closely with product, design, and community partners, helping ensure that customer insights are integrated throughout the development process.

Qualifications
  • Experience with research design, study development, or field research.
  • Background in linguistics, psychology, cognitive science, social science, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting user research, surveys, or interviews.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, R, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.
  • Experience with academic writing or publishing is a plus.
  • Interest in accessibility, Deaf research, or sign language research is a strong asset.
  • 3-5+ years of experience as a UXR or CX analyst is preferred.
