Postdoctoral Researcher – Cerebral Autoregulation & Biomedical Signal Processing
Join a multidisciplinary team of clinical physicists, neurologists, clinical neurophysiologists, engineers and data scientists at Maastricht University and Maastricht UMC+ to develop advanced signal‑processing methods for dynamic cerebral autoregulation in acute stroke patients. You will lead methodological development and validation, analyse high‑resolution physiological data, and translate findings into clinically actionable recommendations.
Responsibilities- Develop and validate advanced signal‑processing algorithms for dynamic cerebral autoregulation analysis.
- Investigate how measurement duration and analysis strategies influence the reliability of personalised blood‑pressure estimates.
- Analyse and interpret multimodal physiological datasets.
- Translate technical results into clinically meaningful applications and recommendations.
- Publish findings in international peer‑reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
- Supervise MSc students and support their research development.
- Contribute to ongoing and future grant proposals and research initiatives.
- A PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related discipline.
- Proven expertise in biomedical signal processing and physiological data analysis.
- Strong programming skills in MATLAB, Python or comparable environments.
- Experience analysing physiological signals and working with clinical data.
- Affinity with clinical and translational research.
- Experience with scientific writing and publishing.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch.
- Analytical, independent, proactive, collaborative, and scientifically engaged.
- Employment contract for 25 months (1.0 FTE).
- Gross monthly salary between €3,546.00 and €5,538.00, 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% year‑end bonus.
- 29 vacation days, four additional public‑holiday days, and the possibility to accrue up to 12 extra days through compensation hours.
