Overview
Strong research and breeding innovation starts with reliable data and insightful analysis. In this role as Assistant Researcher Bioinformatics, you will support the Biotechnology Research department by transforming large‑scale genomics datasets that will generate valuable insights for breeding programs. Working closely with molecular biologists and bioinformatics colleagues, you will help optimise data workflows and ensure high-quality analysis results. This is how you contribute to the development of innovative vegetable varieties that help shape the future of sustainable agriculture.
Responsibilities- Perform quality control and curation of genomics datasets.
- Maintain, optimise, and execute bioinformatics analysis workflows.
- Develop new workflows and tools for genomics data analysis.
- Support molecular biologists performing genomic data analysis.
- Work with large-scale sequence data in high‑performance computing environments.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in data management, analysis methods, and research processes.
- A BSc degree (or equivalent) in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Analysis, or a related field.
- Experience working in both Linux and Windows environments.
- Strong programming skills in Python and R, including knowledge of the Bioconductor repository.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git and workflow management systems such as Snakemake or Nextflow.
- Experience with high‑performance computing and sequence data analysis.
- Genuine interest in Plant Biology and excellent English communication skills.

Benefits- Position for 38 hours per week.
- Gross monthly salary between €3,629.02 and €4,746.26 (Scale G, Collective Labour Agreement for Vegetable Seed Companies), based on a full‑time workweek of 38 hours.
- 8.33% vacation allowance and an attractive annual bonus programme of 10% of your annual salary, depending on your job level and company performance.
