Location: Greater London

The Junior Research Analyst will be part of SIA’s global research team and support the delivery of research projects, carry out analyses, contribute to written research reports, and provide analytical support to clients and the wider research team. The role is based in London; a hybrid working pattern, including working from home, is available.

Reporting to:
Senior Research Analyst.

Responsibilities
  • Develop expertise in assigned staffing industry areas and produce periodic comprehensive reports communicating key business intelligence and analysis in clear language, supported by charts, graphs, tables, and verified data from primary and secondary sources.
  • Research and write frequent thought‑provoking analyses on current staffing industry events and trends, including financial analysis of company results, government data collection, and internet‑based research.
  • Participate in data collection via surveys and manipulation of publicly available data to support group projects.
  • Develop additional technical expertise as required, such as mastering relevant software and/or staffing industry business practices, with minimal assistance.
  • Work closely with coworkers to develop extensions of current research product offerings and assist in the development and planning of new research‑related offerings.
  • Build general expertise in staffing and contingent work by monitoring relevant news, research studies, and industry developments.
  • Attend and participate in conferences as a member of Staffing Industry Analysts’ research team and assist with conference planning activities, including speaker recruitment and presentation preparation.
Qualifications
  • Strong research and analytical skills with proficiency in manipulating and analysing data in Microsoft Excel.
  • Clear and effective business writing experience, including research reports and articles for executive audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to engage senior business leaders, understand priorities, and present research findings clearly and persuasively in writing and verbally.
  • Data visualisation skills: selecting appropriate chart types, tables and diagrams; producing accurate and well‑presented visuals.
  • Flexibility: ability to learn new concepts and tools, develop new skills, and adapt to new challenges confidently.
  • Strategic perspective: balance detailed execution with a wide‑range context, prioritising critical elements that support both immediate deliverables and long‑term goals.
  • Delivery & impact: manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and demonstrate tangible results from previous work or projects.
  • Collaboration & accountability: work effectively with others, build trust, and take responsibility for outcomes.
  • Tech proficiency: strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), search engines, generative AI, and other research tools.
  • Advantageous but not essential: familiarity with SIA research methodology, contingent workforce topics, business journalism, a professional degree or equivalent experience, professional qualifications such as CFA, additional language proficiency, or Python programming knowledge.
