Postdoctoral Research Associate; PDRA
We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate to conduct genomic analyses of elms affected by Dutch elm disease, including genome assembly, annotation, and phylogenomic convergence analyses. The project will involve fieldwork, sample preparation, processing large sequence data and statistical analyses using computing clusters.
PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area (e.g. evolutionary biology, bioinformatics, genomics, population genetics). Expertise in de novo genome assembly, analysing RNAseq data and genome annotation, phylogenomic analyses, building pangenome, and use of high performance computing clusters. Experience of coding in a relevant programming language (e.g. Python, R) and of shell/Unix scripting. Experience of publishing research results in peer reviewed scientific journals.
Experience of presenting research results to the wider scientific community and stakeholders at conferences or workshops.
This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.

The salary for this position is £39,243 - £42,153 per annum [Band D]
