Postdoctoral Research Associate in Immunology

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Immunology (Grade
6). This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to work within a dynamic and inclusive environment, in the Hepworth lab in the areas of Mucosal Immunology, ILC biology and relevant interdisciplinary fields (e.g. neuroimmunology, matrix biology, metabolism, etc). This would be expected to include independently performing experiments utilizing animal models and the downstream isolation and analysis of immune cells using a variety of techniques including, but not limited to, flow cytometry, ELISA, RT-PCR, bulk and single cell RNA sequencing, imaging and other emerging technologies (e.g. imaging mass cytometry, spatial transcriptomics, metabolomics/proteomics) – including aspects of informatics and advanced data analysis.

• Conceptualise and design experiments
• Undertake and drive a research project with view to publication
• Help supervise other lab members

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

• Hold (or expect to hold shortly) a PhD in Immunology, or other relevant discipline in Biomedical Sciences, and a BSc (hons) in a relevant Biological Science.
• Extensive and up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge in Immunology, particularly Mucosal Immunology or other relevant subdiscipline (e.g. neuroimmunology, metabolism, matrix biology etc).
• Excellent technical skills in core lab techniques and benchwork.
• Extensive experience in core Immunological Techniques (e.g. multiparameter flow cytometry, tissue processing, ELISA, RT-PCR etc).
• Experience in transgenic animal models and/or in vivo interventions and disease models.

• Experience with emerging technologies e.g. 'omics and advanced informatics, spatial transcriptomics and other imaging techniques.
• Experience in cross-disciplinary aspects of immunology, particularly welcoming applicants with backgrounds in neuroimmunology, matrix biology, metabolism or other relevant areas.
• Hold a UK Home Office License (or equivalent experience outside UK).
