Our Ideal Candidate is passionate about economics and economic policy. You should have a solid understanding of applied econometrics, data analysis tools and methods, and advanced communication skills. Our ideal Economist candidate has a master's degree in economics, economic policy or similar field as well as two years’ work experience in a related role. Further, you should display mature judgment, be committed to high quality work, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

We are a virtual organization and as a remote worker you must be comfortable and able to work 100 per cent of the time from a home office in Canada. To be successful as a remote worker you need to have a self-starter attitude, possess strong organizational and time management skills and be a proactive communicator. Having a home office environment that provides for a productive, professional, and safe work environment during regular working/business hours is a requirement of this role.

About the Role
  • Undertake economic and data analyses independently to produce high-quality work that is accurate, complete, and adheres to the prescribed methodology.
  • Lead the writing of clear, impactful reports leveraging a variety of tools, including data visualizations.
  • Support the development and customization of macroeconomic forecast models.
  • Support research projects of varying complexity utilizing your knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Filter large amounts of research and stay current on issues affecting assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Contribute to large research projects as part of a team of economists and other social science researchers.
  • Support constructive and respectful client engagements by preparing meeting materials, contributing to methodological and planning discussions.
  • Prioritize competing tasks and work effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Consistently demonstrate professional values in all aspects of work and interactions with colleagues and clients.
  • Contribute, as needed, to the development of research project proposals for internal and external audiences.
  • Commitment to producing high-quality work and demonstrating professional values in all aspects of work and interactions with colleagues and customers.
About You

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Two years of professional experience in a related role as an economist or analyst.
  • Masters in economics, economic policy, data science or similar field of study.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the applications of statistics, econometric modeling, regression analysis, forecasting techniques, and statistical software packages.
  • Experience working with R, Python and/or EViews.
  • Strong research skills and a demonstrated proficiency in synthesizing complex concepts and information from a variety of sources.
  • Advanced communication skills in English (both oral and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of internal and external contacts and customers.
