About the Role:
Our client is looking for a dedicated Research Chemist with expertise in polymer synthesis to join their innovative R&D team based in Tembisa. This role involves the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel polymeric materials for various applications. You will work in a state-of-the-art laboratory, contributing to the development of next-generation products. This hybrid position allows for a blend of in-lab research and remote work, offering flexibility while ensuring critical experimental components are conducted on-site.

- Design and execute synthetic routes for novel polymers with targeted properties.
- Characterize synthesized polymers using a variety of analytical techniques, including NMR, GPC, DSC, and TGA.
- Optimize polymerization conditions to control molecular weight, architecture, and Purity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including material scientists and engineers, to develop and scale up new materials.
- Document experimental procedures, results, and conclusions thoroughly in laboratory notebooks and reports.
- Stay current with the latest literature and trends in polymer chemistry and materials science.
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in polymer synthesis techniques (e.g., free radical, condensation, living polymerization).
- Proficiency in analytical techniques for polymer characterization.
- Strong understanding of structure-property relationships in polymers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Good communication skills for presenting findings and collaborating with colleagues.
