About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and intellectually curious AI Ethics Researcher to join their forward-thinking team in Kimberley. This role is central to advancing the understanding and implementation of responsible AI practices. You will conduct in-depth research into the ethical implications of artificial intelligence, focusing on areas such as fairness, accountability, transparency, bias mitigation, and societal impact. Your work will inform the development of ethical guidelines, policies, and technical solutions that ensure AI technologies are developed and used in a way that benefits humanity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct rigorous research on ethical challenges and considerations in AI and machine learning.
  • Analyze the potential societal impacts of AI technologies, including issues of bias, fairness, and equity.
  • Develop frameworks and methodologies for evaluating the ethical performance of AI systems.
  • Contribute to the creation of ethical guidelines, best practices, and policy recommendations for AI development and deployment.
  • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and ethicists to translate ethical principles into practical applications.
  • Publish research findings in academic journals, present at conferences, and contribute to public discourse on AI ethics.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Philosophy, Ethics, Sociology, Computer Science, or a related field with a strong focus on AI ethics.
  • Proven research experience in AI ethics, technology ethics, or related areas.
  • Deep understanding of core AI/ML concepts and their ethical dimensions.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and research methodologies skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ethical arguments.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams is a plus.
