About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Research Scientist with extensive experience in Molecular Diagnostics to lead innovative research efforts in a fully remote capacity. This senior role will be instrumental in driving the discovery, development, and validation of novel diagnostic assays for various diseases. You will leverage your deep expertise in molecular biology, assay development, and biomarker discovery to shape the diagnostic pipeline.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, adept at leading research teams, and capable of fostering collaborations with both internal and external partners. - Lead the design, development, and optimization of novel molecular diagnostic assays (e.g., PCR, sequencing-based, immunoassay).
- Identify and validate potential biomarkers for early disease detection and patient stratification.
- Oversee experimental validation of diagnostic candidates, ensuring analytical and clinical sensitivity and specificity.
- Collaborate with bioinformaticians, clinicians, and regulatory experts to advance assay development through clinical trials.
- Manage research projects, including resource allocation, timeline management, and team supervision in a remote setting.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in molecular biology, diagnostics, and relevant disease areas.
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related life science discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in molecular diagnostics R&D, with a strong track record of assay development and commercialization.
- Expertise in various molecular techniques, including nucleic acid amplification, sequencing, and probe design.
- Proven experience in biomarker discovery and validation for diagnostic purposes.
- Strong understanding of assay validation principles and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, CE-IVD).
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage and mentor scientific teams remotely.
