Remote Senior Bioinformatician - Genomics

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Bioinformatician with a focus on genomics to join their pioneering, entirely remote research team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing sophisticated computational strategies for analyzing large-scale genomic datasets. You will collaborate with a global network of scientists, contributing to critical research in areas such as disease genetics and personalized medicine.

• Develop, implement, and maintain scalable bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
• Perform detailed analysis of whole-genome, exome, and transcriptome data to identify genetic variants and regulatory elements.
• Integrate diverse biological datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) to gain comprehensive insights.
• Collaborate with geneticists and molecular biologists to interpret findings and guide research directions.
• Contribute to the development of custom software tools and scripts for data analysis and visualization.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in genomics, bioinformatics, and computational biology.

• Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in bioinformatics, with a strong emphasis on genomic data analysis .
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python , R, and Perl.
• Solid understanding of statistical genetics, population genetics, and variant calling algorithms.
• Experience with cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS, GCP) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information effectively in a remote setting.
