About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Principal Computational Scientist to join their innovative research and development organization, operating in a fully remote setting. This senior role is pivotal in driving data-driven decision-making across multiple scientific disciplines by developing and applying advanced computational models and algorithms. You will lead complex data analysis projects, mentor junior scientists, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to extract meaningful insights from large and diverse datasets.

The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of computational modeling, statistical analysis, and machine learning, coupled with a passion for applying these skills to solve challenging scientific problems and contribute to groundbreaking discoveries from anywhere.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and validate sophisticated computational models and algorithms to address complex scientific challenges.
  • Lead the analysis of large, multi-modal datasets, identifying key trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Collaborate closely with experimental scientists and engineers to define project requirements and interpret results.
  • Mentor and guide junior computational scientists and data analysts, fostering their technical growth.
  • Design and execute simulation studies to predict system behavior or optimize experimental designs.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations and reports.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Computational Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in developing and applying computational models and advanced analytical techniques.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Fortran, and proficiency with scientific computing libraries and frameworks.
  • Strong background in numerical methods, statistical modeling, machine learning and data visualization.
  • Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments and cloud platforms is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead projects in a remote environment.
