About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Research Scientist in Pharmacology to join their innovative research team based in Stellenbosch . This pivotal role focuses on the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents. You will design and conduct preclinical studies, analyze drug efficacy and safety profiles, and contribute to the strategic direction of drug discovery programs. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage your expertise in a dynamic R&D environment, contributing to the advancement of new medicines.
Key Responsibilities- Design, execute, and interpret in vitro and in vivo pharmacological studies to assess drug candidates.
- Develop and validate assays for screening compound libraries and evaluating drug mechanisms of action.
- Analyze complex pharmacological data, including dose-response relationships, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics.
- Collaborate closely with chemists, biologists, and toxicologists to advance drug discovery projects.
- Prepare high-quality study reports, regulatory documents, and scientific publications.
- Provide scientific leadership and mentorship to junior researchers within the Stellenbosch R&D department.
- Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Toxicology, or a related biomedical science discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in drug discovery research, with a strong emphasis on preclinical pharmacology.
- Proven expertise in designing and conducting assays for various therapeutic areas.
- Hands-on experience with animal models and relevant in vivo techniques.
- Strong understanding of PK/PD principles and data analysis software (e.g., Graph Pad Prism).
- Excellent scientific communication, presentation, and project management skills.
