About the Role
Our client is seeking an visionary Lead Research Scientist to drive innovation in Synthetic Biology , operating in a fully remote capacity. This leadership role involves conceptualizing, designing, and executing novel projects at the intersection of biology, engineering, and computer science. You will spearhead the development of engineered biological systems for a variety of applications, including sustainable materials, novel therapeutics, and advanced diagnostics.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in synthetic biology principles, a proven track record of leading research teams, and a passion for creating groundbreaking biotechnological solutions within a dynamic, collaborative, and remote-first environment.
- Lead the design and construction of novel engineered biological systems and pathways.
- Develop and optimize genetic circuits, metabolic engineering strategies, and protein engineering approaches.
- Oversee experimental planning, execution, and data analysis for synthetic biology projects.
- Mentor and manage a team of research scientists and technicians in a virtual setting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including computational biologists, engineers, and product developers.
- Stay at the forefront of synthetic biology advancements and identify new research opportunities.
- Ph.D. in Synthetic Biology, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral or industry research experience in synthetic biology.
- Proven experience in designing and constructing complex genetic constructs and biological systems.
- Strong understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and metabolic engineering.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to mentor research teams remotely.
