Computational Biologist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Computational Biologist to join their dynamic Drug Discovery team, operating remotely. This role is pivotal in leveraging cutting-edge computational approaches to accelerate the identification and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates. You will work closely with biologists, chemists, and data scientists to analyze complex biological data, develop predictive models, and guide experimental design. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and expertise in applying computational methods to biological problems.

• Design and implement computational strategies to analyze high-throughput screening data, omics data (genomics, transcriptomics), and clinical data.
• Develop and apply machine learning models for target identification, lead optimization, and predicting drug efficacy and toxicity.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists to guide the design of new drug candidates using structure-based drug design (SBDD) and other computational methods.
• Build and maintain biological databases and knowledge graphs to support drug discovery efforts.
• Visualize and interpret complex biological datasets to generate actionable insights for research teams.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in computational biology, bioinformatics, and drug discovery technologies.

• Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in computational biology or bioinformatics, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant scientific libraries (e.g., pandas, Num Py, Sci Py).
• Experience with chemo informatics and structure-based drug design tools.
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., Tensor Flow, PyTorch) and statistical modeling.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for effective remote teamwork.
