Senior Agronomist - Crop Science

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Agronomist to join their dedicated crop science division in Cape Town . In this hybrid role, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing advanced agronomic strategies to enhance crop health, yield, and sustainability across diverse farming operations. You will work closely with field teams, researchers, and farm managers, splitting your time between essential on-site assessments and strategic remote planning.

• Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive crop management plans, including fertilization, irrigation, and pest control strategies.
• Conduct field trials and experiments to evaluate new crop varieties, farming techniques, and agrochemical products.
• Analyze soil, plant tissue, and environmental data to diagnose crop issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide expert technical guidance and training to farm managers and field staff, both in person and remotely.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in agronomy, agricultural technology, and sustainable farming practices.

• Master's degree or PhD in Agronomy, Crop Science, Horticulture, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in agronomic research, consulting, or farm management.
• Demonstrated expertise in crop physiology, soil science, and integrated pest management.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in interpreting field data and research results.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and locations.
