Remote Senior Bioinformatician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Bioinformatician to join their fully remote research team. This pivotal role involves designing and implementing computational pipelines for the analysis of large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. You will work on challenging research problems, collaborate with biologists and data scientists globally, and contribute to significant scientific discoveries. The ideal candidate is passionate about leveraging computational approaches to understand complex biological systems and has a proven track record in developing robust bioinformatics tools and workflows.

• Develop, optimize, and maintain scalable bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analyzing high-throughput sequencing data (e.g., WGS, RNA-Seq).
• Perform complex data analyses, including variant calling, gene expression analysis, pathway analysis, and comparative genomics.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to design studies, interpret results, and integrate computational findings with experimental data.
• Develop custom scripts and software tools to address specific research questions and improve analytical efficiency.
• Contribute to the development of databases and visualization tools for biological data management and exploration.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics tools, algorithms, and methodologies, and advocate for their adoption.

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in bioinformatics or computational biology research.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with bioinformatics libraries and packages.
• Strong understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques applied to biological data.
• Experience with common bioinformatics software, databases, and command-line interfaces (Linux/Unix).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
