Principal Scientist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and highly accomplished Principal Scientist to lead critical initiatives within their Drug Discovery research programs. This is a senior scientific role within a fully remote, cutting-edge research environment, focused on identifying and developing novel therapeutic candidates. You will leverage your extensive expertise in pharmacology, molecular biology, and medicinal chemistry to drive projects from early target validation through to pre-clinical development.

The successful candidate will possess a proven track record of scientific leadership, innovative problem-solving, and a passion for translating scientific discoveries into life-changing medicines, contributing to a culture of scientific excellence and rapid innovation.

• Lead and manage multiple drug discovery projects, from target identification and validation through to lead optimization.
• Design and execute complex biological assays and experimental studies to assess compound efficacy and mechanism of action.
• Collaborate closely with chemistry, DMPK, and toxicology teams to advance drug candidates through the development pipeline.
• Develop and implement novel screening strategies and technologies to accelerate the discovery process.
• Provide scientific leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to research teams.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, prepare scientific reports, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.

• Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field with a strong emphasis on drug discovery.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a focus on drug discovery .
• Demonstrated success in leading projects that have progressed to pre-clinical or clinical development.
• Extensive knowledge of diverse therapeutic areas and cutting-edge drug discovery modalities.
• Expertise in assay development, high-throughput screening, and lead optimization strategies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to thrive in a remote research setting.
