Remote Soil Scientist - Agricultural Research

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified Remote Soil Scientist to contribute to their agricultural research initiatives. This fully remote position is ideal for an expert in soil health, chemistry, and physics who can analyze soil data and provide recommendations for improving crop productivity and sustainability. You will work from your home location near Mahikeng , collaborating virtually with a team of agronomists, researchers, and data analysts.

Your work will involve interpreting complex soil data, developing fertilization strategies, and advising on best practices for soil conservation and management on a broad scale.

• Analyze soil samples and conduct field research to assess soil properties, nutrient levels, and health status.
• Develop and recommend tailored fertilization and soil amendment strategies to optimize crop growth and yield.
• Conduct research on soil erosion, nutrient leaching, and soil degradation, proposing mitigation strategies.
• Utilize advanced analytical techniques and technologies, including spectroscopy and GIS, for soil characterization and mapping.
• Interpret large datasets related to soil science, climate, and crop performance to provide actionable insights.
• Contribute to the development of sustainable soil management practices and conservation plans.
• Collaborate remotely with interdisciplinary teams to integrate soil data into broader agricultural research projects.

• PhD or Master's degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in soil analysis, soil health assessment, and agricultural research.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques for soil analysis and interpretation of results.
• Experience with GIS software and remote sensing data for soil mapping and analysis.
• Strong understanding of soil chemistry, physics, and biology, as well as crop nutrient requirements.
• Excellent analytical, research, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote collaborative environment.
