Process Development Scientist

Our client, a cutting-edge chemical research and development firm in Randburg , is seeking an innovative Process Development Scientist to advance their product pipeline. You will focus on developing and optimizing chemical synthesis routes and scale-up processes for new specialty chemicals. This role requires a strong scientific background, hands-on laboratory experience, and a passion for bringing novel chemical concepts from the bench to pilot scale.

• Design and execute laboratory experiments to develop efficient and scalable chemical processes.
• Optimize reaction conditions, work-up procedures, and purification methods.
• Perform small-scale pilot runs to validate process scalability and identify potential challenges.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare detailed technical reports.
• Collaborate with analytical chemists and chemical engineers on process characterization and scale-up.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with safety protocols.

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering , Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in process development or synthetic chemistry.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory synthesis, purification techniques, and analytical instrumentation (HPLC, GC, NMR).
• Proficiency in experimental design and data analysis.
• Knowledge of scale-up principles and pilot plant operations is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
