About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geneticist to lead their Human Genetics research group in Nelspruit . This role involves the design and execution of studies aimed at identifying genetic factors contributing to disease, understanding gene-environment interactions, and developing novel diagnostic tools. You will work with state-of-the-art genomic technologies and large-scale datasets, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers.
This is a key leadership position offering the opportunity to make significant contributions to the field of genetic medicine and drive innovative research programs.
- Lead research projects focused on identifying and characterizing genetic variants associated with human diseases.
- Design and implement experimental strategies utilizing advanced genetic and genomic technologies, including next-generation sequencing (NGS).
- Analyze and interpret complex genetic data, employing statistical and bioinformatic approaches.
- Develop and validate novel genetic assays for diagnostic and research purposes.
- Collaborate with clinicians and other scientists to translate genetic findings into clinical applications.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to scientific publications and grant applications.
- Ph.D. in Genetics , Human Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in human genetics research.
- Extensive experience with various genetic analysis techniques, including genotyping, linkage analysis, and NGS data interpretation.
- Proficiency in statistical genetics and bioinformatics tools relevant to human genetic studies.
- Proven track record of scientific leadership and successful project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, suitable for presenting complex genetic concepts in Nelspruit .
