Lead Metabolomics Scientist - Drug Discovery

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Metabolomics Scientist to join their cutting-edge drug discovery team. This is a fully remote position that will play a crucial role in analyzing and interpreting complex metabolic profiles to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets. You will lead the metabolomics strategy, develop innovative analytical methods, and collaborate with cross‑functional research teams to advance drug candidates from discovery through preclinical development.

• Lead the design, execution, and analysis of metabolomics studies using advanced analytical techniques such as LC‑MS/MS and GC‑MS.
• Develop and optimize novel methods for sample preparation, data acquisition, and data processing for targeted and untargeted metabolomics.
• Analyze and interpret large‑scale metabolomics datasets, identifying key metabolic pathways and biomarkers relevant to disease states and drug response.
• Collaborate closely with chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists to integrate metabolomics data with other omics and phenotypic data.
• Manage and maintain state‑of‑the‑art metabolomics instrumentation and ensure adherence to quality control standards.
• Mentor and guide junior scientists and technicians within the metabolomics group, fostering a strong scientific and collaborative culture.

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field with a strong focus on metabolomics.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands‑on experience in metabolomics research, with significant experience in drug discovery or related industries.
• Expertise in mass spectrometry‑based metabolomics, including instrument operation, method development, and data analysis.
• Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and statistical methods for analyzing complex biological data.
• Demonstrated ability to lead research projects and effectively communicate findings to diverse scientific audiences.
• Experience with managing a laboratory and mentoring junior staff is highly desirable.
