Our client is seeking a creative and skilled Pharmaceutical Research Scientist to join their dedicated R&D department located in Bloemfontein. This hybrid position allows for a combination of laboratory-based research and remote work, offering a balanced and productive environment. You will contribute to the discovery and development of new pharmaceutical entities, focusing on innovative drug design and early-stage research. This role is critical for driving forward our pipeline of novel therapeutics, and you will collaborate with a team of scientists in pushing the boundaries of pharmaceutical science within the Free State region.
Key Responsibilities- Design and conduct experiments to identify and validate potential drug candidates.
- Utilize a range of biochemical, cellular, and molecular biology techniques in the laboratory.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, documenting findings meticulously in research notebooks and reports.
- Contribute to the development of new research methodologies and technologies.
- Collaborate with medicinal chemists and biologists to advance lead compounds through the discovery funnel.
- Present research findings at internal meetings and potentially at external scientific conferences.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral or industry research experience in drug discovery.
- Strong hands‑on experience with in vitro assay development and screening.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and interpretation of complex biological data.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work creatively on challenging research problems.
