Literature Specialist – Freelance AI Trainer Project

Meridial is seeking literature specialists to help train and evaluate large language models. The role involves providing expert literary analysis, documenting failure modes, and giving structured feedback to improve model reasoning and prompts. This is a freelance, remote contract position focused on advancing AI understanding of world literature.

• Engage the model with literary passages and interpretation tasks
• Verify factual accuracy, coherence, and depth of literary analysis
• Evaluate the validity of analyses and capture reproducible error traces
• Provide structured feedback to improve prompts, evaluation criteria, and reasoning
• Document failure modes and contribute to model reasoning improvements
• Communicate reasoning steps clearly to support transparent evaluation

• Strong familiarity with classical literature, modern and contemporary fiction, poetry, drama, and literary theory
• Experience in critical analysis, comparative literature, or related humanities fields
• Ability to articulate reasoning and show work in analysis tasks
• Experience in teaching, academic research, editorial work, or extensive reading/writing
• Comfort working as a contractor and providing a secure computer and internet setup
