Summary:Clear market findings help teams understand customer preferences, compare competitors, and make better marketing decisions. This Market Research Specialist sits within the marketing research team and works under a research team lead, turning approved research questions into organized findings. The specialist works with marketing coordinators, research colleagues, and internal stakeholders to clarify requests and explain results. This fully remote position offers work from home in New York, United States, with desk-based research and reporting responsibilities.
The role requires a 40-hour weekly commitment. Working days and shift times may vary.
- Review incoming research requests through email and a project management tool such as Trello, confirming the business question, intended audience, scope, and requested turnaround.
- Clarify research objectives with the requester and research team lead, identifying relevant customer segments, competitor groups, comparison criteria, and available source materials before starting.
- Locate relevant market reports, competitor websites, published studies, and existing survey results, recording source references and publication dates so findings can be traced.
- Prepare approved questionnaires in a survey tool such as Qualtrics, checking question wording, response options, routing, and test responses before requesting team lead approval.
- Monitor approved surveys, check response completeness, and flag unusual patterns or participation gaps to the research team lead without making unsupported assumptions about respondents.
- Review research inputs for duplicate entries, missing values, inconsistent categories, and outdated information, recording corrections and questions before analysis begins.
- Summarize survey responses and competitor information using counts, percentages, comparison tables, and recurring themes, keeping observed results separate from interpretation and assumptions.
- Prepare concise research summaries that explain methods, key findings, limitations, and practical implications, linking conclusions to supporting evidence rather than overstating what results show.
- Follow up with requesters when information is missing, elevate conflicting sources or scope changes to the research team lead, and track decisions through completion.
- Submit findings for review, address feedback, and organize final research materials; quality is judged through accuracy, turnaround, complete source notes, and timely follow-up.
- High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in marketing, business, statistics, or research methods is helpful for understanding common assignments.
- About 1-2 years of market research, survey support, or marketing research coordination experience preferred, including work with structured research requests.
- Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methods, sampling basics, questionnaire structure, and the limits of small or unrepresentative samples.
- Ability to compare competitors using consistent criteria and distinguish reliable published information from unsupported promotional statements or outdated sources.
- Comfort using a survey tool such as Qualtrics to review questionnaires, test response paths, and inspect results for completeness.
- Ability to organize assignments in a project management tool such as Trello and maintain clear progress updates and handoff notes.
- Clear written and verbal communication for explaining findings, asking focused questions, and discussing uncertainty with colleagues who have different research knowledge.
- A reliable computer, high-speed internet, and quiet private workspace; availability for the 40-hour weekly commitment and agreed working days and shift times.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Fully remote work focused on desk-based research, analysis, and reporting from home.
- Structured onboarding and training on survey workflows and the named systems, using guided practice and clear research standards.
- Regular check-ins with the team lead to review priorities, discuss findings, and receive feedback.
- Opportunities to build survey design, competitor analysis, source evaluation, and research reporting skills.
- Health coverage, paid leave, a 401(k), bonus opportunities, and stipends.
