Catalysis Research Scientist

Our client, a globally recognized innovator in chemical synthesis and catalysis, is seeking an accomplished Catalysis Research Scientist to join their cutting-edge research division. This role is based in Polokwane, Limpopo, and operates under a remote model, allowing for flexible work arrangements. You will be at the forefront of designing, synthesizing, and characterizing novel catalytic materials and systems to drive advancements in various chemical processes.

• Conduct fundamental and applied research in heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis.
• Design, synthesize, and characterize novel catalyst materials using state-of-the-art techniques.
• Evaluate catalyst performance in relevant chemical reactions through experimental testing and analysis.
• Develop mechanistic understanding of catalytic processes through kinetic studies and advanced characterization.
• Utilize computational chemistry tools to aid in catalyst design and understanding.
• Collaborate with internal R&D teams and external partners on catalysis-related projects.
• Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals and present at international conferences.
• Mentor junior researchers and provide technical guidance on catalysis research.
• Ensure all laboratory work adheres to strict safety and environmental protocols.

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field with a strong focus on catalysis.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral research experience in catalysis, including experience with catalyst synthesis and characterization.
• Proven expertise in designing and evaluating catalytic systems for a range of chemical transformations.
• Hands-on experience with various analytical techniques (e.g., XRD, TEM, BET, chemisorption, GC-MS, HPLC).
• Familiarity with computational catalysis methods is highly desirable.
• Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage research projects in a remote setting.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the vicinity of Polokwane, Limpopo, and maintain a remote work setup.
