Remote Lead Molecular Biologist: Drive Global Research

Our client is a pioneering biotechnology firm seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Molecular Biologist to spearhead groundbreaking research initiatives. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to high‑impact projects. The successful candidate will lead a team of talented researchers in exploring novel molecular mechanisms, developing innovative assays, and driving the discovery pipeline.

This role is critical in translating fundamental scientific insights into tangible advancements. You will be instrumental in shaping the scientific direction and fostering a culture of innovation within our remote R&D department, based out of Tembisa, Gauteng but operating globally.

• Lead and mentor a team of molecular biologists in a remote setting, providing scientific direction and technical expertise.
• Design, optimise, and execute complex molecular biology experiments, including PCR, qPCR, cloning, sequencing, and cell‑based assays.
• Develop and validate novel molecular assays for target identification and validation.
• Analyse and interpret experimental data, drawing meaningful conclusions and recommending next steps.
• Contribute to the development of research strategies and project planning.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners via digital communication tools.
• Prepare scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety regulations and best practices, adapted for a remote research environment.

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field with a strong publication record.
• Minimum of 7 years of post‑doctoral and/or industry experience in molecular biology research.
• Demonstrated experience in leading research projects and managing scientific teams.
• Expertise in a broad range of molecular biology techniques.
• Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently in a remote setting.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in using collaborative online platforms.
• A proactive and solution‑oriented mindset, with a passion for scientific discovery.
