As the Manager, Global Visual Merchandising, you lead and develop global visual merchandising directives in partnership with the Brand, Product and Merchandising teams. In this highly cross‑functional role, you’ll attend early‑stage gates that inform the pre‑season work, with a focus on the NAM, EMEA and APAC markets. In partnership with our Global Merchandising, Brand and Product teams, you’ll create the strategic feedback loop to deliver globally consistent visual merchandising standards.
This role is based out of North Vancouver, BC and is open to remote work.
Meet Your Future TeamThe Visual Merchandising team is accountable for driving global consistency of VM within all retail stores to maximize sales, profit, and brand positioning. We create, deliver and train on evergreen brand standards and seasonal directives informed by collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
Core Activities- Partnering to develop global campaigns and seasonal directives that align with foundational VM strategies, continuously improving on and innovating our approach by leveraging existing North America (NAM) reference as the standard
- Creating new VM tools and processes to enhance efficiency, transparency, and scalability across global markets
- Building decks and actioning on creative review outcomes to drive seasonal and global campaigns; partnering with external partners to provide global direction
- Defining a vision and creating alignment with leadership teams on how we connect VM strategies to Merchandising plans, from concept through to execution
- Contributing to early stage‑gate meetings to support cross‑functional planning for upcoming seasons
- Contributing to strategic VM planning, rollout, and solutioning in partnership with Brand, Product and Merchandising teams
- Contributing to communication efforts between our Corporate Headquarters and Regional VM teams, especially in markets with limited store presence
- Creating global vendor relationships across print, mannequin and retail production
- Collaborating with the Regional VM Managers to drive store results and best practices; fostering and maintaining strong relationships and communication cadence with the retail teams
- Evolving VM directives in partnership with VM planners through a consistent feedback loop, strengthening the monthly direction provided to stores
- Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain
- Building, leading and mentoring the team to develop, evolve, and scale the visual merchandising tools, processes, principles and communications that support best‑in‑class retail experiences
- Creating and continuously evolving our VM concept strategies to deliver on our 5‑year brand vision; leveraging global marketplace and key consumer trends
- University degree in Visual Merchandising, Art & Design, Marketing, Brand or Business Management
- 6+ years’ experience in Retail Brand Marketing, VM, Strategy within a vertical retail, e‑commerce, global environment, and +2 years’ experience leading a team or function
- Strong visual, analytical, communication and presentation skills, with an understanding of how to leverage both print and fabrication
- Passionate about Visual Merchandising and the guest journey
- Strong communicator, eager to grow in strategic leadership in a retail career
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 & depth of experience with Sketch Up and the Adobe Creative Suite (able to markup, sketch and create visual renderings)
- Creative problem solver, flexible to develop solutions that work within budgets and timelines
- Excellent planning, organizing and project management skills; ability to multi‑task and meet deadlines
- Enthusiastic and creative, with a flair for design and color and interest in popular culture and current trends
- Strong understanding of the active apparel market within the outdoor industry, and key outdoor activities the company serves
- Willing and able to travel as required (routine in‑season visits, core consumer events, new store openings, new season launches, etc.) up to 50% of time
