Drop Ship Representative at Northern Tool + Equipment
At Northern Tool + Equipment we serve tradespeople and weekend warriors by providing the right tools and a hassle‑free purchasing experience. In this hybrid role you will work from the Burnsville, Minnesota corporate office a few times each quarter and act as the liaison between vendors, customers, and Merchandise Managers to support the efficient drop‑ship process.
Key Responsibilities- Support the drop‑ship program for assigned vendors, ensuring compliance with company standards and maximizing profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Communicate drop‑ship request status to customers in both oral and written forms and answer telephone and in‑person inquiries.
- Compile and analyze reports to monitor vendor performance and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
- Assist vendors with EDI and portal drop‑ship order processing, PIM item maintenance, and submitted information.
- Research customer inquiries and advise vendors on efficient, economical resolutions; document all actions taken.
- Investigate order delays, notify customers of backorders, and update item availability online or remove items temporarily.
- Process order cancellations, changes, refunds, damages, defects, parts, or returns electronically; follow up with vendors to ensure timely resolution.
- Monitor and trace drop‑ship orders with vendors and freight carriers, arrange freight pickup, document shipping information, and report status to external customers politely and professionally.
- Update purchase orders with cost revisions and retransmit to vendors, minimizing processing delays while communicating errors to Merchant/Manager.
- High school education or equivalent (required).
- 2+ years of merchandising or customer service work experience (preferred).
- Strong organizational skills; ability to maintain high quality standards with limited supervision.
- Ability to manage multiple projects on schedule simultaneously.
- Strong independent decision‑making and critical thinking skills.
- Accuracy working with numbers and details.
- Effective oral and written communication with company and vendor personnel.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and strong Excel knowledge.
- Knowledge of hard‑line tools and equipment preferred.

- Competitive Pay: $18.00–$26.55 hourly, personalized based on skills, experience, and location.

Work Schedule:
