Pet Smart Retail Operations Manager

We are seeking a dynamic Retail Operations Manager to drive operational excellence across our full‑service pet stores while upholding our vision, mission, values, and strategic objectives. The manager will lead merchandising, inventory, pet care operations, associate development, and financial performance in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.

Job Summary

The Retail Operations Manager is accountable for merchandising and inventory management, pet care operations, store opening/closing, associate leadership, financial outcomes, and maintaining a safe, organized environment. The role requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

Essential Responsibilities
  • People Leadership – Recruit, interview, coach, and develop associates; onboard, review, and mentor; resolve complaints; prioritize daily tasks; communicate company priorities; celebrate engagement.
  • Overall Store Experience – Oversee pet care maintenance, inventory accuracy, pricing, vendor relationships, Buy Online/Ship From Store programs; analyze sales trends; implement merchandising decisions; enforce store standards and compliance; respond to pet parent concerns; support opening/closing procedures.
  • Expense Management – Drive business growth; hold associates accountable for P&L targets; analyze inventory reporting; manage labor, supplies, and other store metrics; collaborate with Home Office partners for work orders and purchase card allocation.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of retail leadership in a customer‑focused environment.
  • Full‑time availability; flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency with computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and maintain composure.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
