JOB PURPOSE
This role is part of our Global Studios team. We create emotive yet conversion‑focused ideas, products and campaigns at scale and speed. Our specialty is hyper‑personalised, digital communications that change perceptions, shape new behaviours, and shift market share for our clients. As a Senior Online Merchandiser you will work closely with the Merchandising team, reporting to the Lead Merchandiser on the eBay Australia account.
Your responsibilities include trading the overall site for various categories, prioritising merchandising based on conversion and business performance for promotional and seasonal campaigns and shops, working with DEPT® Merchandising and Marketing teams and eBay stakeholders to ensure profitable project and campaign deliveries without compromising creative integrity.
- Lead and mentor junior team members, presenting data analysis and project updates to the wider merchandising team.
- Manage daily and weekly production of category pages, ensuring site standards are met or exceeded.
- Develop a full understanding of the client’s content management systems and objectives, advising on solutions that best meet their needs.
- Create and maintain a critical path for campaigns and other category‑specific activity.
- Construct the optimum product range for the target market by balancing price architecture, product variety and other parameters.
- Source items, upload, merchandise and continuously optimise landing pages, campaigns and category pages.
- Prioritise all campaigns consistently across app, desktop, mobile and email platforms.
- Conduct regular performance analysis, feeding insights and proposed actions into the Lead Merchandiser and clients for weekly trading reports.
- Check live pages regularly, troubleshooting and fixing any issues.
- Perform competitor analysis and trend research, providing an in‑depth, customer‑focused knowledge of the market and categories in planning meetings.
- Proactively identify incremental sales and profit opportunities within your vertical.
- 3+ years of merchandising experience, ideally within e‑commerce.
- A keen eye for retail trends and an interest in current and upcoming trends.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritise, meet deadlines under pressure and manage resources efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Aspirations to think strategically, communicate clearly, and contribute new ideas with tenacity to learn and grow.
- Ownership and accountability mindset.
- Experience with various CMS platforms and the ability to quickly grasp new processes or tools.
- Analytical experience with a degree of business acumen.
- Proficiency in Excel.
