Junior Retail Buyer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and analytical Junior Retail Buyer to join their dynamic team, operating remotely with occasional travel as needed. This role involves assisting senior buyers in sourcing and selecting products that align with market trends and customer preferences for their retail outlets. You will conduct market research, analyze sales data, and build relationships with suppliers. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a motivated individual passionate about retail merchandising and product selection, with the flexibility to work from home anywhere in South Africa.

• Assist senior buyers in the product selection and sourcing process for various retail categories.
• Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitor activities, and customer demands.
• Analyze sales data and performance reports to inform purchasing decisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms and prices where appropriate.
• Prepare product assortment plans and manage the buying calendar.
• Ensure timely delivery of merchandise and manage stock levels in coordination with operations.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Fashion, or a related field.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• A keen interest in retail, fashion, and consumer goods.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote environment, with occasional travel to supplier locations or head office in the Upington region.
