Our client, a leading retail organization, is seeking a strategic and experienced Retail Category Manager to oversee their product categories from their Nelspruit hub. • Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
• Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to identify growth opportunities.
• Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle, from selection and sourcing to promotion and performance analysis.
• Optimize product assortment and inventory levels to maximize sales and profitability.
• Negotiate terms and pricing with suppliers to achieve competitive advantages.
• Develop and execute effective promotional plans and marketing initiatives for assigned categories.
• Monitor category performance, track key metrics (sales, margin, market share), and provide regular reports.
• Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, and store operations teams to ensure seamless execution of category plans.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and introduce new products to enhance the offering.
• Conduct regular store visits in the Nelspruit area and beyond to assess product placement and performance.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or a related retail role.
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful category strategies.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into action.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Proficiency in retail analytics tools and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong understanding of market dynamics, consumer behaviour, and retail operations.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote work with in-person requirements in Nelspruit
