As the Automation Sales Manager you will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and market expansion in the region. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic sales plans, intimately understanding the local manufacturing industry, and cultivating strong relationships with key customers and partners. You’ll evaluate customer requirements for automation projects, work with the Engineering/Solutions team to develop concepts, and negotiate pricing and terms with end-users.
This is an individual contributor role, accountable for owning growth in your territory (not a people manager).
- Partner with the Marketing and Sales Development (SDR) team to create targeted account outreach
- Generate new business, qualify potential projects, follow up with leads, lead site visits for new project discovery, and present proposals to customers
- Penetrate primarily SMB and mid-market accounts in food & beverage, chemical, consumer packaged goods (CPG), and related industries
- Evaluate customer requirements for automation projects, work with Engineering/Solutions to develop concepts, and follow up with quotes
- Represent Formic at trade shows and other industry events
- Lead and coordinate internal and external resources during the pitch and sales process as the quarterback of the prospect sales cycle
- Maintain data integrity and document pertinent information in Salesforce; communicate with stakeholders for a collaborative sales process
- Understand and foster a presence in the local manufacturing customer base and market; stay updated on automation market trends
- Demonstrate ownership mentality, honesty, teamwork, proactive communication, and prioritization
- Proven track record of success in B2B sales, with 5-8 years of experience in technology or SaaS
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes; automation/robotics experience is highly preferred
- Ability to travel up to 75% within territory (Texas and surrounding states), including overnight trips
- Customer-centric approach and ability to build long-term relationships
- Proven success hunting and building a territory, with a proactive pipeline approach
- Analytical mindset and ability to leverage data and market insights
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced startup environment
- Proficient in Salesforce and GSuite
- Comfort with ambiguity and a proactive, assertive nature
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Formic’s compensation packages are benchmarked against peer companies at a similar growth stage, with equity as a critical part of the package. Final compensation is customized based on cash/equity balance, experience, location, and market considerations.
Base Salary Range: $120,000—$160,000 USD
